Discover & Connect the World
There is concern that the connections between people will become weaker and that society will become more and more divided due to the ongoing Covid-19 Pandemic.
Under such circumstances, at Tokyo Skytree, the new monument "W1SH RIBBON" with the desire to "overcome this difficulty together and support the feelings of all who move forward toward a new future" has been installed at the observation deck of Tokyo Skytree since September 25th, 2020.
On April 22nd this year, Tokyo Skytree launched a vibrant and innovative ‘W1SH RIBBON DISCOVER ＆ CONNECT THE WORLD’ campaign in cooperation with celebrated international photographer and director, Leslie Kee who strongly believes in the purpose of this campaign. This global campaign is designed to gather the hopes and wishes of people all over the world to reaffirm unity, solidarity and hope during what has been a challenging time for the entire global community. Under his direction, the new monument ‘Tree of Hope’ was set up at the observation deck of Tokyo Skytree.
For the “Tree of Hope” monument, you can write your wishes on a ribbon that can be purchased from the capsule toy machine installed on the observation deck and tie it to the “Tree of Hope”. Part of every sale will be donated to a non-profit organization "Peace Winds Japan" and will be used for medical support.
Thousands of colorful ribbons with wishes inscribed have been attached to the ‘Tree of Hope’. Given the current travel restrictions, the campaign is also being driven via social media. People anywhere in the world can send in their wishes using the hashtag #W1SHRIBBON, These posts on social media are also displayed on the campaign website to connect the hopes all over the world.
Tokyo Skytree hopes that Covid-19 will be resolved as soon as possible and the world will regain its daily life, and we will continue our best efforts to create an attractive place where visitors in the world can feel fun, joy, and excitement and to lead to a sustainable and peaceful future.
Peace Winds Japan (PWJ) is a non-governmental organization (NGO) dedicated to the support of people in distress, and threatened by conflict, poverty, or other turmoil all over the world.
So far, we have been active in 33 countries around the world, and have been focusing on the emergency disaster support project "Flying Search Medical Team" and activities aimed at solving social issues. We are also engaged in regional revitalization and initiatives for animal protection and activities aimed at zero killing of dogs and cats.
For COVID-19, we started emergency support at the end of January 2020 and have delivered medical supplies to more than 2,100 medical and welfare facilities in Japan and overseas.
In particular, we believe that it is most important to support small and medium-sized clinics and clinics that have difficulty receiving support from the government, etc. to be supported by the power of the private sector. We are continuing to work on supplies support for medical and welfare facilities, etc. and medical support in Japan.
